Rookburgh: A long wait for a complete experience
When Phantasialand reopened following the second COVID-19 lockdown, the family and I rushed to get there on the first weekend for a look at their newest theme area: Rookburgh. It took the park about four years to finish it and it was well worth the wait.

Watching Animaniacs can spur you on to learn
Apart from a slew of hilarious gags (many of which are indeed timeless) that appeal to young and old, the genius of Animaniacs lies in what you can learn from it – if you are curious and put in the work.
The first season of Animaniacs already features an impressive list of guest stars. These include (but are not limited to) Albert Einstein, Rasputin (no, not the song), Aristotle and Moby Dick. Go hiking in Germany, and you’ll eventually end up going through at least one small village. There, you will often see short(ish) poems painted on houses. Some sound like blessings for the houses, others like toasts. [Read More…]

Context, context, context…
When discussing a few shows and movies I realized how important it is to consider everything in context. Without context, anything can be misconstrued, if not outright misunderstood or even misused (take for instance how the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche were misused during the Third Reich by the National Socialist regime).
If you can maintain context, then it can help you enjoy a film, play novel etc. even more. [Read More…]
