A valuable life lesson from pickled eggs and elderflower syrup

It took me a long time to get to it and make pickled eggs and then, a few weeks later, some elderflower syrup. That’s when I learned that I didn’t need time to make them, I needed time to find out making them takes no time at all. Does that make sense?

Syrup_and_Eggs.jpgI made my first batch of pickled eggs when I got on garden leave and started my personal/professional “reboot”. [Read More…]

Our backyard took a couple of evolutionary leaps

Over the years, our backyard has gone from being a child’s playground to a next-level outdoor gym that everyone can enjoy. Oh, and we have bunnies.

My_Workout_Collage.jpgThe pic is a little collage of me doing the exercises I do when I am not doing bodyweight or training martial arts (more on that in later posts). [Read More…]

A different whey to get your protein supplements

The harder you train - especially as you age - the harder it is to recover so you can keep going the next day. When I started training more regularly and more rigorously for my first obstacle course run I decided to go “hippie” and try all-natural, vegan, organic powders. Three years later, I’m still at it.

I decided to go “hippie” (for lack of a better word for the German “öko”… [Read More…]
