Pride and Prejudice and Zombies can bring you closer to the original work

I would argue such works can serve as a gateway into classical literature and therefore have far more merit than most would grant them. It even has everything for people who like films of classical literature and satires of classical literature and zombie movies and satires of zombie films.

It might have a little to do with the spoiler paradox: reading the summary of a film or novel before going through the actual work can help readers enjoy it more. Since they already know how what will happen, they can focus more on the details of the story.

In the past, works from authors like Austen or Bronte seemed daunting to me. But now, I think I would enjoy it more by simple virtue of the fact that I know (more or less) what is going to happen (sans zombies, I guess).

This begs the question: Is that what the creators of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies were going for? If so, I say that it is a noble mission. If not they still made a fun movie with something for everyone.
